Meghalaya Open Paragliding Accuracy Championship & Asian league qualification

Hosting a paragliding accuracy event in Meghalaya, with its unique nickname “Abode of Clouds,” created a brilliant synergy between the sport and the natural beauty of this region. Known for its lush, subtropical forests, strikingly high rainfall, and captivating biodiversity, Meghalaya is truly a gem among India’s North-Eastern states. The “Scotland of the East” moniker, inspired by the British due to the region’s scenic, rolling hills, resonates with anyone who has experienced its mist-laden landscapes and dramatic skies.

An event like this not only introduced the thrill of paragliding to a new audience but also showcased Meghalaya’s stunning, often surreal natural environment. It’s easy to see how the vibrant skies of Meghalaya and its enchanting landscape could be an ideal backdrop for paragliding enthusiasts, drawing in adventure lovers and nature seekers from across the globe.

We had an  incredible turnout! Reaching 100 participants and surpassing 150 in registrations sets a milestone in Indian paragliding, showcasing both the sport’s growing popularity and Meghalaya’s potential as a premier paragliding destination. The active involvement of the Meghalaya Government, particularly through Meghalaya Tourism and the Meghalaya Aero & Adventure Sports Association, played a crucial role in making this event a success. It’s inspiring to see such collaborative support for adventure sports, further solidifying Meghalaya’s place on the global adventure tourism map.
